Mourning Small Spaces seeks to use residents' input to document the small spaces that are changing throughout Seattle. Start by pointing your mobile device at 740 Harvard Avenue (you may have to go across the street to get the full effect of the first slide). This overlay gives you a glimpse into the future of this block. Swipe right to follow the prompts and take pictures of the things you will miss the most once this area changes. You can take a picture at any time during this process—the overlays will not show up on your camera. A pop-up of your taken picture will appear in the right corner of your screen—you can save it or keep taking pictures. The final section will give you a link to upload your pictures and share any other thoughts you might have. This is for research purposes only and your private info will not be shared. Document away!
Take a moment to look around. What are your favorite parts of this block? What are the views you will miss the most?
When some of the houses that have been here for a long time are replaced, there are a lot of details that are lost. These can be stone walls, intricate windows, or the way a neighbor arranges their garden. What details will you miss the most?
Do you associate this area with any of your routines? Maybe you walk your dog here or this is your favorite route to take running errands. If applicable, take a pic that represents that routine.
